Journalistic Ethics

The ethics of news gathering and reporting are constantly being tested and debated.  The Journalist’s Toolbox has a wonderful list of links to different news organizations’ codes of ethics and sites dedicated to “fairness and accuracy” in journalism.   We will refer to these from time to time over the course of the semester.

The Columbia Journalism Review is an excellent source for articles on journalistic ethics.  Check out this article by Craig Silverman, The Counter-Plagiarism Handbook: “Tips for writers and editors on how to avoid or detect journalistic plagiarism.”
